Ideas

Ideas, the second part of Economics with Justice, follows on from the Introductory course. It builds on the principles met so far and uses them to examine some of the key ideas that shape the way we think and the way we relate to one another in the world economy.

As John Maynard Keynes observed:

The ideas of economists and political philosophers, both when they are right and when they are wrong, are more powerful than is commonly understood. Indeed, the world is ruled by little else.

The course asks whether now is the time to re-examine the ideas behind the theories that inform government policy, and to consider what a more just understanding of economics might look like.
