The School of Philosophy and Economic Science, on its philosophy courses, teaches Advaita, the philosophy of unity. It is designed and intended to allow people to lead full lives while coming to an appreciation of what they are as human beings. Our understanding of what it is to be human influences how we interact with the world around us. In this year’s annual economics lecture, Ian Mason considers Economics from the point of view of the philosophy of unity, considering questions such as “What does it mean to be human?” and “What is our place in the natural world?”
About Ian Mason
Ian Mason was the Principal of the School of Philosophy and Economic Science until 2019. He has been a student of the school since 1971 and is a practising barrister.
