Dialectic - The Art of Enlightened Conversation - Toronto
Discover the principles of dialectic and how these can be applied to bring awareness to speech, insight through enquiry, and unity through common understanding.
Dialectic comes from the Greek work dialego which means “to talk through". The course draws its inspiration from the great dialogues of Plato’s Republic. The course is a practical one where students interact in small and larger groups. We explore the principles of dialectic, whether our speech is guided by these principles or not, and the effect in either case. The course is designed to bring increased awareness of our own expression and that of others, and to be able to enjoy more enlightened conversation. The principles and practice outlined in the course would be helpful to those working with groups in work, study or community settings.
